Recently, so-called art fairs held in every urban city
in Japan shows various progress. In addition to the galleries, art dealers
and artists as an organizer, nowadays, we have some opportunities to see
the limited art fairs held and organized by the art universities themselves.
Some one says that the current tendency means too much commercialized. But
for the appreciators, it's very convenient to have many chances to see various
kinds of works at one sight, we can say. However, in every aspect of such
spread and variation of art fairs, the important role that cannot ignore
occupy the art galleries, constantly supply the space of exhibit. Galleries
firmly root on the ground of the stage where the appreciators meet the artists.
Our exhibition gallerism, now we have the 7th review, are organized by the
13 contemporary art galleries located in Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. From the
beginning called as Osaka Contemporary Art Fair, then through the period
as Contemporary Art from Galleries to the present style for 27 years in
total, we tried to introduce the art scene as it were. This time we present
the symposium related to the exhibition and we would like to reflect and
discuss these 27 years, then possibly help to the future prospect. In the
trend of increasing commercial art fairs, the Exhibition of Gallerism may
make a position of the opposite side, but we believe our social mission
as gallerists will never change.
Finally we deeply express many thanks to the Osaka Contemporary Art Center
and the persons concerned that kindly provided the exhibition space and
gave us a great help.
